TRANSFORMER SECTION

1.) How do I program my Constellation Pro® Transformer?

Make sure you are within range of the Transformer… 30 feet of the transformer with no obstructions. Continue to login and follow prompts.

If you have any trouble, pull the home screen down on the app to have it refresh the scan. If this does not work—delete the app, reinstall, and try again.

Unplug transformer for 15 MINUTES and plug back in,

If none of the above works call our Help line 1-800-878-1240.

2.) Why is the Constellation Pro® Transformer red fault light on?

Upon install the fault light will automatically come on until a phone is connected then it will shut off.

Check wiring connections, a crossed wire will turn the system off and turn on the fault light.

Check to make sure the transformer is large enough to handle the number of fixtures connected.

3.) What size Constellation Pro® transformer do I need for my project?

First figure out which fixtures will be used and how many of each the project will have.  Take the catalog (located here) that has all our fixtures listed with the wattage they will use and multiply the given wattage by the # of fixtures used. Then add those numbers to get a total.  For example: I have 10 CP-P100s and 4 CP-A200 on a job. CP-P100 use 4 watts and CP-A200 use 8 watts so 10×4=40 watts for CP-P100, 4×8=32 watts for CP-A200.  So total job is 40watts+32watts=62 watts. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 80% OF TRANSFORMER CAPACITY, THIS IS ELECTRICAL CODE. This rule applies to all transformers.

4.) Why should I buy the Constellation Pro® Bluetooth Transformer?

The Bluetooth transformer is an all-in-one unit controlled through Constellation Pro® Smart lighting app on a mobile device eliminating the need to go out and manually adjust the transformer. The Bluetooth transformer will run itself once set up, automatically adjusting for the seasonal sunup/sundown time change. The app also shows a power meter, so you know exactly how much wattage your system is using and a manual on/off button.

5.) What is Constellation Pro® warranty on transformers?

There is a 5-year warranty on all Constellation Pro® transformers.

7.) Can Constellation Pro® transformers go outside?

Yes, all Constellation Pro® transformers are rated for outdoor use.  The transformer should be mounted a minimum of 18 inches above ground and must be plugged into a GFCI outlet.

8.) Why do Constellation Pro® transformers have multiple “Com” slots and 12V slots?

There are multiple TAP slots on our transformers to limit excessive wire runs.  For example, if the transformer is located on the side of the house and the customer wants lights in the front and the back of the house. Use Slot 1 to run wire to the front of the house and Slot 2 to run another wire to the back.  Multiple wire runs greatly help for troubleshooting a project if a problem occurs.

9.) I have a Constellation Pro® Bluetooth Transformer but never want the lights automatically on...

The Constellation Pro® BT transformers come with 2 preloaded programs (dusk to midnight, dusk to dawn) that cannot be deleted.  You can edit these programs by clicking on them and by deselecting the “active days” it will keep the transformer from automatically turning on the lights.

10.) Are timers included in Constellation Pro® transformers?

Yes, Constellation Pro® Bluetooth Transformers are an all-in-one unit and run off the Constellation Pro® App downloaded on your phone that allows for programing times for lights to come on/off.

11.) How do I connect the wires to Constellation Pro® transformer?

With your main wire at transformer.  Snip in between the two strands of insulated copper on your 12/2 wire vertically to separate and form a Y shape.  Strip 1/4 inch of the insulation back on both arms of the Y and insert one strand of copper into the slot labeled Comm and the other into a slot labeled TAP.

12.) Do I need an electrician to install Constellation Pro® transformer and lights?

No, an electrician is not required to install Constellation Pro® products.  The transformer plugs into a standard 120v GFCI protected outlet and the system is 12volts, so it does not require a certified electrician to install in most places.  Be sure to check with local laws if a license is required.

13.) How do I connect & wire Constellation Pro® lights?

The Constellation Pro® lights are designed to be wired using the daisy chain wiring method with running the main wire from the transformer to all desired fixture locations, cutting the main wire and splicing in the light fixture. See diagram below for more details.

CONNECTIONS & WIRING

25.) Do I need a permit to install Constellation Pro®?

Most counties and states do not require permits to install low voltage lighting however be sure to check with your local codes if a permit is required.

26.) Is there positive and negative side of Constellation Pro® wire?

No, there is no positive or negative polarity in the wire with Constellation Pro® LED lighting.

27.) How to make a connection for Constellation Pro®

l connections for Constellation Pro® fixtures are connected using the same method. Stay tuned for our new video coming soon.

28.) How many Constellation Pro® fixtures can I hook up in 1 connection point?

Recommend no more that 2 fixtures be wired in using the same pair of wire nuts.  More than 2 fixtures will make the copper connection too large to ensure a proper watertight seal using the silicon filled wire nuts provided with all Constellation Pro® fixtures.

29.) Do I need to use electrical tape for Constellation Pro® lighting connections?

Electrical tape is not required for installation, but some electrical tape is good practice. Even with the wire nuts secured properly over the connection these fixtures are outside exposed to the elements so a small amount of electrical tape to really secure the wire nuts onto the wire is a good idea.

30.) How many feet of Constellation Pro® wire can I run before I see a drop in light output?

This depends on size of transformer, amount of fixture attached to wire run, how far between first and last fixture. Generally, not an issue with LED lights since their wattage is so low.

31.) How many Constellation Pro® fixtures are recommended for one wire run?

It is recommended that no more that 20-25 fixtures be put on a single wire run. This is to help for troubleshooting any problems that occur and helps keep the light quality the same from the first fixture on the wire run to the last fixture on the wire run.

32.) What is the suggested method of running wires for Constellation Pro®?

We suggest running wires in areas that have the lowest probability of being cut. Run wires along foundations or along a walkway where possible. Using conduit crossing landscape bed edges or under hardscapes to avoid cuts in the wire from shifting rocks or edging beds. Avoid running wires too close to shrubs or trees so in the future if the plant is removed the wire will not be cut.

33.) How deep do you bury Constellation Pro® wire?

Electrical code recommends the low voltage wire be buried  6 inches in the ground.

34.) What is the recommended way to install Constellation Pro® fixtures ?

Assemble Constellation Pro® fixtures without the ground stake attached. Locate where you would like the fixture and use a rubber mallet to hammer in the ground stake. Then place the wire in the slot in the ground stake and thread the fixture in. For hardscape fixtures locate and mark where the fixture will go and drill or saw cut a groove to place the wire into.
